Good afternoon,
My name is Eujin Liew, and is a great honor to stand before you today as your valedictorian.
As we reflect on our journey together, I am filled with gratitude and pride for my course mates.
Our time at SIPMM has been an incredible experience, enriched by the selfless individuals we’ve encountered along the way. Our diverse cohort, coming from various backgrounds, has truly enhanced our learning experience. I am profoundly grateful for the unwavering support and camaraderie you all have shown. As the renowned author and activist Maya Angelou once said, “People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” My friends, you have reaffirmed my belief that life’s journey is far more manageable when we walk it hand in hand.
We must also acknowledge the invaluable guidance and mentorship of our dedicated lecturers. Thank you, Professor Philip Poh and Mr Nick Lai. Your passion for your subjects and commitment to our success have been instrumental in shaping our educational journey.
As Albert Einstein once observed, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” Professor Poh, your wisdom and insights extend beyond academic knowledge. The personal anecdotes you share have given us a broader worldview and a deeper appreciation for life. You’ve encouraged us to work together, share our knowledge, and, most importantly, give thanks and acknowledge those who have helped us along the way.
As we embark on this new chapter of our lives, let’s remember the importance of lifelong learning. Education is not merely a destination; it is a continuous journey. The knowledge and skills we have acquired here serve as a foundation upon which we can build our futures. In a world that is constantly evolving, it’s essential to stay curious, adaptable, and committed to lifelong learning.
Socrates said, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with courage, determination, and a sense of purpose. May we continue to strive for excellence, contribute positively to our communities, and make a meaningful impact on the world.
